Sorry for your loss bro. I couldn't help but laugh at the fact you provided a obituary date. I'm that passionate about my stuff too! Did you pull the lid off and check for internal fuses? Easy to do. and sounds to me it is a power supply problem. and the fuses for those are usually mounted internally on the circuit board itself. worth checking out if you own a screw driver.
