Here is the reality...
WiFi or no WiFi there is no assurance, not even a bit, in any internet use.
You can have some faith that some things are more secure than other. Banks are pretty safe (thought not completely) as are government websites. But nothing is 100% and stuff gets looked at, stolen, messed with, all the time. Yahoo has been hacked to bits, and Gmail has also been compromised.
