RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: : No flames..

I'm still working on a couple replies, mostly just content-related stuff. But I feel compelled to divert myself and offer a couple things here. I couldn't agree more with letting things go that you aren't interested in or that upset you. Yes, just skip it. As CCH mentioned, critical thoughts and arguments can be of interest to follow for a while, but it seems that people lose interest pretty fast once it gets down to 2 people just going back and forth, and usually by that time whoever it is wants to back out of things too, albeit in a way that allows them to save face. It really is pretty easy to ignore bad vibes but then again it can also sometimes be easy to get sucked up in them and say things you might want to take back. (See my own example above). Back in the day I think I was a little more tolerant of letting things go even when they got a little nasty but I guess there were a few times when it got out of hand. The thing I've learned the most is that even if you can get a little sharp and heated sometimes you should try to show and exhibit kindness and compassion. That allows for extended debate that can illuminate lots of points of view that otherwise get clouded by fighting over semantics and cheap insults. I really do believe that those two simple things are very important and very underrated, both online and in physical life. That said, I certainly have no interest in getting all overly soft or melodramatic and losing any edginess that I or others here have, because that's important too.
