I strongly suggest (but know you won't) watch the new movie Star Trek from 2009. It's the 1st remake, the prelude with the young cast portraying the original cast at a young age showing how they came about. The 2nd one was good too (from 2013) and references Star Trek 2 The Wrath Of Khan a lot. Haven't seen the latest(3rd)one yet. But as a fan of the original series, you will absolutely love the way the entire cast of amazing actors capture all the nuances and inflections of the original cast. They are all amazing. The movie is also amazing. You'll love it.
