Regarding the Honeycombs, the group was started by London hairdresser Martin Murray on bass and he quickly brought Honey Lantree, his salon assistant and then girlfriend, in on drums for which she seemed to have a natural gift. It looks like they are all still living except for the singer Dennis D'Eli, who died in 2005.
The Honeycombs met Howard and Blaikley, the writers of "Have I The Right" while performing in a pub. Both group and songwriters were unknown at the time and the songwriters offered the group HITR which they arranged themselves. When producer Joe Meek showed interest in the group they performed HITR at an audition. Meek was blown away and promised to make the song "bigger and better". Howard and Blaikley later went on to write for Elvis and British group Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch, having another big number one with Xanadu--a song the Honeycombs turned down. The Honeycombs disbanded a few years down the line after not having been able to replicate the success of HITR.
