The lyrics were written by MJ and that's what he wrote, but yes, I recall in an old book reading that too, only problem is, it's untrue.
Those sessions at Muscle Shoals were attended by few, even though they were filmed, since the Stones were breaking U.S. law by working them and could had been throw out of the county if they were caught, so few knew they were there. Their visa was for playing live shows only, and they weren't allowed to perform any other work, so only a handful of people or other musicians were there. If I recall, the only outside musician there was Jim Dickerson.
