RE: RE: RE: 65 degrees today....

The brutal warmth and lack of snow and even more brutal chinook winds this year have caused me to start to give up on snow-skiing and sledding and other previously enjoyed winter activities.

But the lack of snow has only hit the Front Range and Colorado Plains this year, over here just slightly above normal snow, and a lot of snow at the ski resorts. Only 2 problems. One, it's been that wet snow that's been falling all but one time this entire winter (thanks to the warmer than normal temps), totally not our dry, normal snow that skiers love so much to ski on. It's more like skiing in NY or New England here this year with this wet, non powder snow. Second, no snow at all for 2 full weeks now, other than in the northern mountains, and it's been so warm in the last week all over the state, that the snow is melting at the resorts, too, with spring time conditions ... in early February? The good news is a big snowstorm should hit most of the state this weekend - with up to 2 to 3 feet of snow in the mountains, but, its still gonna be warm when it hits, right around 30, 32 degrees, so, that means more heavy wet snow and no dry snow to ski on again!

Also, this link was sent to me just the other day, it's a new short film about this old hermit living up in the Colorado mountains, not too far from where I live, and who, like me, is a official weather records keeper, just a lot more into it than I am, and he just so happens to talk about how the snow of late is melting so damn fast these days. Well, I found this very interesting anyway: Accidental Snow Guardian
