Nonsecure Collection of Passwords from Google

If you use Google Chrome browser - version 56 or any higher future version, you will see, from now on, this ridiculous warning from your browser when when you visit Gasland in your URL (aka address) field: "Not secure"! First and foremost, this domain is totally, 100% secure to use and will not in any way harm your computer!

What this is all about is suppose to protect those who use credits cards from being ripped off by sites that don't use the "https" protocol, and which costs more to use for domain owners like myself, and it totally not needed at this domain or any of it's sites. When somebody does wish to donate to this domain, they are sent to a secured website, in this domain's case, to PayPal, where it is safety handled. I do not and have never asked anybody for their credit card anywhere on this domain, period. Plus, I totally agree that any domain that does ask this of people and who don't have a more expensive https certificate, should (and most all sites do) and the warning is fair enough and a good idea. But that doesn't apply to this domain at all.

But, there is a second reason for this crazy warning, and that is becuse I do ask for a password - only if you wish to post here, and asking for a password also triggers this warning. Now I can understand if this was, say, a banking site, or something like that along those lines, then yes, a security warning is a good idea for that too. But the password being used and asked for here is for the protection of the board only, and nothing more than that. The person posting and using their password would in no way be harmed if somehow somebody tried to hack their password here. Google should and must distinguished between the two and they aren't, and that is total crap on their part.

I just know that people in the future visiting for the first time here and who don't understand what that message means, will not bother to stay and read the board. So in other words, message boards like Gasland either will have to pay a higher cost to run the entire domain, or see a drop off in readers from lurkers who don't understand what that unneeded warning is about.

So, no, I am unhappy by this new policy, and on my browser it is already happening. I used to look at Chrome as the best on the market, and it's the most used browser on the net, but this new policy stinks and is only going to hurt innocent places - like my domain. But there isn't too much I can do either. Yes, I could get rid of the password system, heck, it sure would mean a ton more posts for all to read, but I might as well throw in the towel if I did that, we would also see a ton of spam ads (as you oldtimers to Gasx3 for sure remember the old days before the password system was installed here and all the spam that was posted), and we would see flame posts return, too... so no, I won't go back to that ever again.

I'm not sure who to write to about this either, since of course, they sent me this email today warning me about this with a no-reply return address. Perhaps it's just a way for them to make more money with this tactic, yet again, for sites like banks or places that ask for your credit card number, I think it's a great idea, but it's totally unfair for a site like Gasland and a domain like keno.org.
