Makes you wonder how the Ronnie song would have sounded. Perhaps it wouldn't even have sounded like a Stones song and would never have reached the same level? Ronnie has been singularly unsuccessful with all his solo stuff. Genius can sometimes be inspired by something mostly mundane. Of course, he should have got credit even if the finished product was pretty different to his original. But he got his payback later down the line by joining the band (and I am not suggesting any direct one to one reciprocity there. Ronnie was just an easy going guy who would do anything Keith and Mick wanted).

I think there was a similar situation with Bill Wyman and JJF? As we know,The Rolling Stones operates on the basis of a Jagger/Richards songwriting label that is never diluted or changed--much like Lennon and McCartney where George's imaginative guitar parts often transformed a song (And I Love Her?)
