Thought I'd look at the tracks again:
1. LOVE IS STRONG--An absolute Stones monster!
2. U GOT ME ROCKING--Memorable hook but a bit of a 2 chord monstrosity.
3. SPARKS WILL FLY--Not a favorite. Apparently about a visit of Jerry Lee Lewis to Keith's place.
4. THE WORST--Forgettable
5. NEW FACES--Highlighting Mick's phobia about the younger dudes in his profession. A bit of a dirge.
6. MOON IS UP--Not bad; quite good even.
7. OUT OF TEARS--Can easily see why so many fans love it. For me it is okay, but reminiscent of As Tears Go By/Lady Jane.
8. I GO WILD--Again a memorable hook, but like U GOT ME ROCKING, it quickly wears a bit thin as it doesn't have many interesting changes.
9. BRAND NEW CAR--As forgettable as "You're Driving Too Fast".
10. SWEETHEARTS TOGETHER--Mick's sentimentality showing.
11. SUCK ON THE JUGULAR--Dirty Work revisited?
12. BLINDED BY RAINBOWS--Mick did it better in BLINDED BY LOVE on Steel Wheels.
13. BABY BREAK IT DOWN--A great song with an infectious groove.
14. THRU AND THRU--Average Keith song.
15. MEAN DISPOSITION--Unmemorable.
So yeah, I think 7.5 from 10 is about right overall: and for me that makes it the best of the post DW albums. Blue and Lonesome is probably around 7.5 or 8 too--but of course, it doesn't showcase new material.
