Regarding the word itself, I am aware of its history and importance, but in this day and age I don't think anybody anywhere, black or white, should be using it. Just, why??
Again, when any person who is not of that race - uses a word like that against another, yes, it's wrong and they have no business using it. But when a person is of that race and says it only among another member of his/her race, then clearly it isn't being used to but their race down. Most members of the same race do that to each other, not just black people. But should Mick had used it in his song - or Lennon when he used it in the tile to his song about the mistreatment of women? Hell no! Nor should any of the many rappers who freely use the N word. If their music was only gonna be heard by blacks, then fine, but these songs are heard by everybody, and in turn they are only hurting their own race by using that word in front of others. White kids think it's cool to use the word since the rappers use it, when it's never cool for a white person to say it, period.
