The Kinks are incredible, the perfect cross between a Stones/Beatles sound, but yet a thing all their own, and quite underrated in my opinion. Ray Davies is very deserving of his recent honor. Face to Face is their masterpiece to me, but the two albums before that and the two after are damn good too. They faltered after Arthur and never really recovered but all in all a wonderful band. Just like their American counterparts the Jefferson Airplane, I think they are as legendary as the Stones/Beatles on output and influence, but of course they probably never got the long-term recognition of those bands, just as the Airplane were probably considered slightly second-tier to the Doors and the Byrds, even to this day.
