Gosh, it's so sad to hear of that place's closing! Back when I was in my teens, that was a regular place that I would visit! Yes, their NY pastrami sandwich was the best on the planet, a giant, mountain of a sandwich and a great meal! Went there on my last trip back to NYC and the food all of these years later was still great.
But SW, in regard to your other post above, what is wrong with a liverwurst sandwich? It's yummy! Funny, well actually, it's very sad, that they just don't serve that kind of food out here in Colorado. I've had a good pastrami sandwich out here exactly once, while visiting a place in Denver about 20 years ago, and have had maybe 5 or 6 liverwurst sandwiches in 40 years living out this way. Thing is, liverwurst is liverwurst when you can find it, but NY pastrami is something else! It's like NY pizza, you can only get it over there in NY and nothing is close anywhere else. NYC really does have the best food in the entire world!
