An hour to the supermarket - that's remote!! My coastal home is about 2 hours to the nearest shopping mall, but it's only a short distance to the supermarket.

Coyotes seem to be moving into cities now too - a few weeks ago I saw a warning sign up on trails in the Presidio, San Francisco!! We get baby mountain lions who roam too far from home occasionally around my coastal home, but usually they're in the densely forested redwoods. They occasionally see bears where my BC home is. It seems that we adapt to our surroundings.
