RE: Mirra Alfassa aka The Mother (NSC)

Did you notice in the photo of the city taken from above? It's shaped like a spiral. If you understand the meaning behind that, then you're ahead of most people, and are more than likely into eastern religions (and woman leaders perhaps). But that right there tells you something about that town if you know about the spiral and it's connection to woman. But anyway, the spiral shape is connected to the town's founder, Mirra Alfassa (aka The Mother), who was a the spiritual collaborator of Sri Aurobindo.

It's something that you brought this up here in Gasland, Ms Peachfeather! I could be wrong on this, but my guess is most reading this have no clue about what I'm talking about nor who The Mother or Sri Aurobindo were. But if you are into eastern religion, or if you lived where I live (Crestone, Colorado), you know all about them even if you don't believe in them. I've noted how different the town I live in is (it's very far out, like Auroville, with unusual buildings, people [from all over the word], etc, but we do have a political system here, be it a very liberal one), and there isn't another U.S. town like it, and part of the reason it's very different is that eastern religions are really the only religions here. I've noted that Buddhism and Hinduism are the 2 main religions in town, followed by other eastern religions that most people living in the U.S. never heard of. We have a large following here of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo (yoga was one of his things). Yes, we have The Sri Aurobindo Learning Center here, in fact it's located just down the street from where I live. So I know a lot about them and have heard of Auroville, in fact I have a close local friend who has been there, and I know several other locals who have been there, as there is a exchange program between my home town and Auroville.

Talya, you can read up more on Auroville if you do a web search, plus, if you got 10 minutes, you might want to check out this film that's up on YouTube about the hippie and spiritual town of Crestone called: A Place of the Heart. I know all of the people interviewed in this film, some of them very well. But again, this piece has a eastern religion feel to it, so it won't be for some, but you will get to see the mountain town that I live in, too, and get an idea why it's so different.
