I guess rules were made to be broken! Actually I completely overlooked the fact that all of the Band except Levon Helm were from Canada. From their mid-60's association with Dylan forward they were based in the U.S. and of course they were considered the quintessential Americana band both in theme and musically as well. Given this, I'm sure many did not realize their origins, and some like myself tend to forget. Since music is a universal language and art from, blurring set boundaries is bound to happen.
Also, in looking at other choices I noted The Doors included, which I easily might have included in my top 5 as well. Also the Byrds were noteworthy. But I'll settle for the choices made and won't be replacing any of them!
