Somebody wrote me last week, a lurker from here, who told me that she always waits to see what my picks are before she votes each week. So as I kindly told her, please, you should vote first before you read any of the replies in the thread, including mine, unless you really aren't sure on how you wish to vote, in a rare case like that, then I see no harm in seeing how your fellow fans are voting. But I list my picks usually at least 12 hours after my poll post is made, so that way, many of you Gassers have already voted. I list my picks only for the sake of the poll thread, to get others to reply in the thread and make it more active, not to influence anybody's votes, and considering how often my choices are never chosen, that's great and what I want to see. There would be no reason for me to run these polls if everybody was to vote the same way I voted, that would be very boring indeed and nothing would be learned from the results.
So although I appreciate that some like to see what I picked and that they respect my point of view, please base your votes on what you think only, as I'm just one person. And yes, after you vote, then go and see who I and the others voted for, and even better, do tell us in this thread who you (or what) you voted for!
Some might go as far as saying that the poll master shouldn't ever reveal what he is voting for, but I don't agree, this is a message board and that's what we do here, talk about things that are on our minds, and each Monday, the polls are on my mind.
So with that said and noted, here are my picks for this week:
Stones 1st poll: A ten all the way! This is the best Stones video ever made, period!
Stones album poll: IORR all the way! I've said it once and I'll say it again about TY, it's overrated, IMO, even if most fans disagree with me on this.
Beatles poll: It was a tossup between "Doctor Robert" and "Love You To", and I only in the last hour voted, and went with the Harrison song, since that one really ins't a Beatles song after all, when it comes to who plays on it (95% of what you hear isn't the Beatles playing). Yet I like the music I hear in this song regardless, but George sings this one like he's half asleep, where as Lennon in his song that I almost voted for, sings his song okay, but the music, which is all Beatles, isn't as great, but at least it's the Beatles playing on it.... This album, IMO, was Lennon's poorest, it's the only Beatles LP where his songs, other than "She said, She said", and "Tomorrow Never Knows", don't totally connect with me in the way all of his other songs, on the other albums, do.
Rock poll 1: Ian Anderson. I rarely ever vote for the leader of the band, or the frontman of the group in this poll question, but in this case I have to. I believe that Ian is one of the most underrated rockers out there, period!
Rock VS poll: Slade's version all the way! What a totally underrated band they were back in the '70s! Well, in the U.S. anyway, as they were big everywhere else. But to think the weaker version of their songs, put out by Quiet Riot in the '80s, sold and did very well in the U.S., while their original takes of the same songs that were released 10 years earlier, went nowhere here. I'll never understand that!
