I agree that Ronnie is the better fit for Keith, even Brian was the better fit for Keith over MT, at least up to around '67. But no question, MT was with the band when they put out their best LPs, and if I had a choice in the matter, MT would had never left the band in the first place.That's no bad dig at Ronnie or Brian, either, I love both of them, but MT was something else and the Stones never really replaced him. I would say there's several songs made with Brian that are just as good or better than any songs made with MT.... but... there ins't a single album that was made in the '60s that was better than the ones MT was on in the '70s.
Would Some Grils have been better with MT instead of Ronnie? No. But all of the other albums put out with Ron would have been better with MT on there instead. But with that said, there will never again be another studio Stones album made with MT, and that is so sad indeed. The Glimmer Twins just won't allow it!
As far as to what the Beatles would had sounded like if they hadn't broken up, well that's easy to imagine. Take their best solo songs made - up until when John was killed, and you got your answer. Those best songs would have all been on Beatle albums, and they might have come out even better than they did with the band playing on them, while the filler solo songs never would have been made!
