RE: Don't forget, there's 2 Stones poll this week!

I'm making the above wording the subject title - where I usually go with "My picks" instead, since, well, early in the voting - which I just checked, the first, main Stones poll is not doing well at all in it's vote total. Although sadly, the Stones poll hasn't been our top weekly poll for several years now, it still always does well each week, just like the other weekly polls all do... Each week for the last 2 years or so, we see either record high votes for all the votes combined, or near record votes, and usually one of the weekly polls seems to hit a new high in total votes cast (that honor went to the Rock VS poll last week, it tied for its highest total ever, which is still a bit lower in its high point for total votes than the other polls are).

Right now, the new second Stones poll is off to the usual, normal start that we see for the Stones weekly poll each Monday morning, but, the first poll, and what is the main Stones weekly poll, is lagging behind, big time. So does this mean Stones fans aren't interested in seeing 2 Stones polls a week? Or maybe it's just the question... you do need to watch both vids before you vote in the first Stones poll this week, and perhaps many fans are just waiting for when they got more time to watch both of them, and they (you) will vote on this one later on? It very well could be this, and by the end of the week we will know for sure. Or, is there just something about the Stones album VS series? Yes, it was a VS Stones album match-up that started the VS questions that is now a part of the second Rock question, years ago (I think it was first asked in '04). It still blows me away how popular the VS polls are, and they are easier for me to put together, too. But do we only want to see Stones albums VS questions for the remaining 122 weeks of the Stones poll? I would think that might get boring if it's the only question ever asked for this poll again. So, let's try to find some time to vote in this week's main Stones poll!

With that said, here are my picks for this week:

Stones Poll 1: "Angie" 1. Still, it was cool to see the forgotten "Angie" 2 vid again, too.

Stones Poll 2: EOMS. It may be the most over rated double LP ever made by anybody, IMO, but I still love half of it, and TY is the most over rated Stones album ever made, period. I know so many of you love TY, and it's an okay album to me, I do like it, but I don't love it. I will say that I do love many songs on EOMS (about 7 of them), where there's only 2 songs on TY that I love.

Beatles Poll: You all know that I love the Beatles most underrated album, LIB, and it sucks to see it lose week in and week out in this question. But I can't vote for it this week, as AHDN is the better album to my ears over LIB.

Rock Poll 1: Alice Cooper came in second last week and even lead for awhile in the poll, when I didn't feel the name should have been voted so high on for last week's question. Yet this week is a totally different question, and yes, I voted for "Alice Cooper" this week! Today an all male band going by a female name ins't uncommon at all (hell, just look at this week's list!), but in 1968 it was unheard of, and it worked! Of course the story about the ouija board and the witch wasn't true at all, but the weird name, and the band starting the glitter movement was shocking indeed. Men just didn't wear all of that makeup in '68, and yes, the band got the idea from Mick Jagger and the Stones after seeing them in the JJF video (other than Keith, who didn't wear any makeup in JJF), they just took it a step further, and then before anybody knew it, David Bowie and Marc Bolen saw what Alice Cooper was doing, and loved it, and copied it, and then the glitter look was the in thing, along with straight men wearing dresses (although thank goodness that didn't last too long!... and come to think of it, the Stones were the first band to do that, too!).... Yet I got a feeling that what would be my second pick for this poll question, Lynyrd Skynyrd, is gonna win this week.

Rock VS poll: SPLHCB, but only by a hair, since if you look at the question deeply, it ins't asking for the better of the 2 albums, which the Beatles album wins hands down, but it's asking which one is the better psychedelic LP. If you go by that only, hell, TSMR is really just as psychedelic as SP is, maybe more so? But looking at the early votes so far, I think most fans are going for the rock music inside and not just the psychedelic sound.
