I was truly in heaven, Manny - doing guided imagery mountain climbing in our imaginations to meet our inner wise being!! Lots of good spiritual work that really needed grounding with doing work like I was doing - those poor tormented souls, beautiful people most of them, but in such a dreadful space (and none of them were veterans) - it was mostly volunteer work, so I could've opted out at any time. My internship was in a New Age counseling center - well it was N.California. It was the most wonderful three years of my life in many ways. I think I have been protected from most of the really difficult things in life that most people go through - though I wouldn't say I've had an easy life. I guess it's all relative. I think my Dad was a bit like that too - at 18 he went to sign up in the Army and failed the medical. He was told he'd be blind by the time he was 21!! So he stayed home to take care of his family (his Dad died when he was 18). Dad continued driving until he was about 80 years old, and a year later he went blind in one eye - but that was 81, not 21!!!! Imagine being told such a dreadful thing at 18 though!! However, he wasn't exposed to the things that his friends were exposed to in WWII. I love the song All Things Must Pass.
