BTB vs ABB/LIB vs RS/H of F/more...

It’s time to get week 875 of our Stones poll underway, and this week’s question is: Between the Buttons vs A Bigger Bang , which album do you like the best?

vs

Week 6 of the "Buttons polls", featuring the 1967 Stones LP Between the Buttons. This week BTB takes on the Stones last released studio LP, A Bigger Bang. This one was the 22nd UK and the 24th US studio album by The Stones, released in September 2005. It was the bands follow-up to their studio LP Bridges to Babylon, with 8 years passing between the release of the 2, at the time the longest gap between studio albums for the band, although as of today, they have not issued a studio album with new material since ABB's release, which is now almost 11 years ago.

Bang had 16 new songs on it and most fans did like it. To see the song list from ABB before you vote, go here: A Bigger Bang . To see the song list for Between the Buttons , go here: Between the Buttons . To cast your vote in this Buttons poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll.

Last week at the Stones poll we asked:Between the Buttons vs Out Of Our Heads , which album do you like the best?.

vs

Results from this Buttons Poll, show that once again fans went with an older Stones album with more covers on it than an older Stones LP with more originals, which does surprise me. Perhaps some of your who voted for OOOH, or The Rolling Stones Now 2 weeks ago, can explain why you like these mainly cover albums better, course to be totally honest, I'm blown away by these results! How the hell is a covers album better than an LP of original Stones songs?

You can check out the final result to last week's poll here: Stones Weekly Poll - week 874. I’ll also add the results from this poll to the Stones VS Page 1, where at the top of the page you can check out the updated standings on how each album has done in these long running VS polls. This week BTB falls back some in the standings.

Now let’s look to the Classic Rock Poll, where we enter week 515, and as usual, we’ll vote in 2 polls. The first question in the Rock Poll this week is a new one for the first time in 10 weeks, it asks: Of the artists just inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame for 2016, which one shouldn't have gotten in?

This is the first of 2 weeks of polling in regard to the Rock Hall, and yes, we ask a similar question to this in the On Going polls. But this week we look at only those who got in this year and if there was anybody who you feel shouldn’t have gotten in. If you think all of them deserved getting in, then there's a choice for that too.

The 5 listed new members are: N.W.A., Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, and Steve Miller. I did not include Bert Berns on this list; he was the 6th inductee this year, but he made it for his work as a songwriter, and also for his production work, etc.. Each year when I ask a question like this one in regard to the Hall, I only include performers who made it in, for the poll's choices. Yes, Bert did perform some too, but he was most known for his writing of dozens of great hit songs the most.

To take a look at the final list and vote, just click here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

For this week’s Rock VS poll, the new question is: ” Piece of My Heart': cover by Erma Franklin vs Janis Joplin’s cover, which version is better?

"Piece of My Heart" was written by Jerry Ragovoy and the just mentioned Bert Berns, and first recorded by Erma Franklin (Aretha's sister) in 1967. Her version became a top ten R&B hit in the U.S., and also made it to #62 on the U.S. Pop Singles chart. In the UK, the single was re-released in 1992, due to a successful commercial that was on the air and using the song in it, and the tune went to #9 on the UK Singles Chart at that time.

The song is best known by the 1968 cover by Big Brother and the Holding Company, and their lead singer, the up and coming Janis Joplin. It went to #12 on the US Pop Charts, and was known as a song that blew many away when they hear how Janis sang it. Other than maybe Erma's sister Aretha, nobody ever really sang before with so much force, as in the way that Janis did. Plus also on this song, guitarist Sam Andrew totally rearranged the music and added in an acid guitar to the mix, in turn, his playing was one of the greatest acid lead guitar riffs heard in a rock song up until that time.

So, which version do you like better? There will be links to both songs at the voting booth so you can hear them before you vote. Just click on Classic Rock Poll to vote, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll, our longest series ever ended when we asked: Which Rock Song has the best Vocal Harmony in it? (Part 10 of 10)

Well, it took 10 long weeks to get an answer to this interesting question and here it is. Won't you just know that in the end the Beatles would grab first place with the great harmonies that they had? Well they sure enough did, with the number "Because" being the top pick out of the 289 songs we voted on in 10 weeks of voting. There was very close voting in the closing round, with "Because" only seeing 5.8% of the vote. "Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys placed at 5.3%, and to show was the song I voted for, "America" by Simon & Garfunkel, at 5.2%.

This was not only a fun poll series to vote in, but in 4 of the 10 weeks we set new all-time voting records, including last week, when for only the second time, and second week in a row, we broke the 800 vote count marker.

You can see the full, final results from Part 10 by clicking here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 514. Or to just check out the Top 10 from the poll, you can do that here: Top 10 Lists - Page 11.

In last week’s VS poll, we asked:” I Do”: original by the Marvelows vs J. Geils Band’s cover, which version is better Like for the first Rock poll, a record number of votes were cast for the VS poll last week, too. The final results were as close as a VS poll can get, with the 2 versions trading places each night for the lead. We almost never see ties in these VS polls, yet it was looking like that just may be the case for this poll last week. But one vote made the difference in the end. To see which song came out on top, just clock here: Classic Rock VS Poll, week 514. You can also check out the final results at the VS results page 2, at the Classic Rock site, just click on: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

We wrap up this poll post as usual with the Beatles poll, where it’s week 268, while we enter week 6 of voting on the Let it Be album in the “Beatles albums VS Beatles albums polls”. So this week’s question is: Let It Be vs Rubber Soul , which album do you like the best?

vs

This week LIB goes up against the 1965 Beatle release of Rubber Soul, the sixth studio album put out by the Beatles, released on December 3, ‘65. It topped the record charts in the UK for several weeks, as well as in the US, where as usual a Beatles album was issued with a different set of tracks. I suggest we just go with the UK version for this poll, since that was what the Beatles actually put out, but if you rather go with the US version, that's fine too.

Now before you vote, to see the song list for Let it Be , go here: Let it Be . To see the song list for Rubber Soul , go here: Rubber Soul . Then to cast your vote in this week’s poll, use this link: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week's Beatles poll we answered this question: Let It Be vs Revolver, which album do you like the best?

vs

Let It Be, continues to have a hard time in these one on one polls (at 1-6 now after last week). Well, I still love this LP even if most fans like their other stuff better, which doesn’t surprise me any. To see the final results from last week’s matchup, which BTW, were identical to the results from the week before (something I don’t think that ever happened 2 weeks in a row before), go here: Beatles Weekly Poll – week 267. Or, you can check out the results at the The Beatles' Studio Albums page, located at the domain’s Lennon Site.

Well if you’re reading this, then you like me, survived the last week and made it to live to see May 2016, gee, aren’t we lucky! This is the month where all the flowers start to grow again, and leaves appear on the trees again, although for the last 6 days where I live it has snowed every day, including today, but even here it’s supposed to warm up into the 60s (F) in the next few days, so that should feel real good indeed! I thank everybody who votes each week in our polls and hope all of you have a great upcoming warm week and month!
