Primitive Sounds and '78

>2. 1964-1967 (I'll include the '67 European tour, for which we have a good bootleg). The comparison can't be entirely fair here, because the sound equipment was pretty primitive compared to what the band later had. They didn't even have monitors on stage, yet they still managed to sound pretty good (when they weren't simply drowned out by the screaming fans)<

Which '67 bootleg are you referring to? Could it be I missed a biggy? It would actually make my day if the answer is "Yes".

Yes the sound equipment was primitive. I was fairly impressed with the sound of their show in Ireland in '65 though, after "modern technology" got a hold of it for the release of, 'Charlie Is My Darling'. I dislike the title of that film btw. Before and after I learned the reason for the title. The camera "loving" Charlie is not a good enough reason for such a bad title imo. I think the male filmmaker had a "crush" on Charlie. "Not that there's anything wrong with that.", but the title is not representative of the film you are about to experience. 'The Stones In Ireland', would have made far more sense. But I digress... I'm both surprised and pleased you enjoy the '78 Tour so much more than "the rest". Though even as I was just typing that last sentence, I remembered you are no fan of horns and backup singers joining The Stones onstage or in their recordings. '78 was just The Stones onstage and an extra keyboard. So it makes perfect sense you would like that Tour.

I think of it as the Garage/Punk Band Tour. I like how nothing gets in the way of hearing Woods/Richards and the ancient art of weaving etc. And the setlist was killer and full of Rockers and Some Girls songs.
