I don't think there is any need to adhere to one Brian Jones narrative, and if in discussion you know a part to be a simple one, then why not say? If Brian Jones played a simple part in a Stones piece, it does not necessarily have to mean that it has to be in comparison to what the rest were doing. If the part that Brian Jones played happened to be a simple part, that does not in any way lessen it's effectiveness, beauty or whatever in any particular song.

I wouldn't mind it if he wasn't the only one whose contributions are systematically deemed "simple". Rock music is many great things (otherwise none of us would be here) but complex isn't one of them. I simply do not understand why Brian's contributions have to be knocked down that way. Maybe someone can explain it to me?
