Virtuosity is fine and is almost always impressive, but it usually requires adherence to strict technical standards, old school style.

Not true! That isn't the main meaning of the word at all. Look up the word! I'll give one example from merriam-webster.com on this word: "Simple Definition of virtuosity: A great ability or skill shown by a musician, performer, etc." That's mainly what it means.

I think the biggest problem here in this entire thread, is some are over-thinking. Brian was clearly a virtuoso!
