SFTD tiebreaker/False endings finials/VS/Fabs AR

Gosh, I always like coming to the computer on Sunday night and writing up the poll post for the new weekly polls that start every Sunday at 10pm Gasland Time, but tonight it was hard to do with all of the celebrating going on here with my Broncos winning SB50 just a few hours ago! But here I am, so let me try to do this as best as I can!

We enter week 863 of the Stones’ poll with this question: Tiebreaker Poll: Motörhead vs Guns N Roses, which band covered 'Sympathy For The Devil', best?

Yes, it's time to break this tie between these 2 songs, which got all tangled up after we ran this question along with 12 other covers of this great Stones tune, 2 weeks ago, in what was record voting. Although we see a lot of spots tie in our polls in most weeks, it's still rare when one takes place for first place like we have here, and when this does happen, we usually run a tiebreaker poll (other than for VS polls) to find a winner that way. So that’s what we’re doing this week.

As usual, you can listen to each song before you vote by using the links in the voting booth. To vote for the song you think is better, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll.

For last week’s Stones poll we asked: Which artist covered the Stones' ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, the best?. Not anywhere as close in the voting for this one than what we saw 2 weeks ago with the SFTD question. 4 of the artists did very well in the voting, with Johnny Winter, with 29.4% of the vote, taking first place. Leon Russell’s cover did well too, recurving 17.2%, and the last 2 that did well in the voting were Aretha Franklin (15.4%) and Peter Frampton (15.3%).

To see the full final results from this poll, click on here: Stones Weekly Poll - week 862.

At the Classic Rock Poll, we’re in week 503 of polling, with the usual 2 polls a week to vote in. The first question is: What is the best false ending to a rock song? (Part 4 of 4)

What was, up until Part 3 was voted on, looking to be a short list of songs to be voted on in this final week of voting on this question, has instead turned into a crowded field of 24 songs listed for Part 4 of this poll. Yes, 24 songs made the final cut, including 11 from last week (Part 3), also along with 7 songs from the Beatles alone, and another 2 from the Stones.

This has been a very popular poll question and now it's time to get us a final answer to its question! To make your pick and vote in this week’s first rock poll, just click here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

For this week’s Rock VS poll, the new question is: Heavy Metal vs Doo Wop, which music genre do you like more? This is week 6 of what will be the last week of the Bang Your Head polls.

Heavy Metal in its last week of being the featured genre for this question, takes on one of the oldest genres of rock music, that being Doo Wop, a form of music that many think of as just "'50s rock music", although there was a bit more to '50s rock music besides this sub-genre, But it is perhaps what we remember the most when we think of '50s music. For the most part, Doo Wop died out by the early '60s, although once in a blue moon somebody will give it a try, with perhaps rock's 2 piano men, Elton John and Billy Joel, having the only 2 real hits with Doo Wop since the early '60s (EJ in '72 with 'Crocodile Rock', Joel in '84 with 'The Longest Time').

So no question about it, 2 totally different kinds of music here to look at this week. Which one do you dig more? Just click on Classic Rock Poll to vote, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll we asked: What is the best false start to a rock song? (Part 3 of 4). A large number of songs (11) made it into the final round this week, those songs are: Hello Goodbye - The Beatles (11.1%), 2000 Light Years from Home - Rolling Stones (10.8%), Monday, Monday' - Mamas and Papas (10.8%), Do You Love Me - The Contours ( 5.5%), I Dont Live Today - Jimi Hendrix (5.5%), In The Summertime - Mungo Jerry (5.5%), Cry Baby Cry - The Beatles (5.3%), Get Back - The Beatles (5.3%), Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley (5.3%), Crimson and Clover - Tommy James and the Shondells (5.2%), Fingertips (Part 2) - Stevie Wonder (5.2%).

You can check out the full finial results by clicking here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 502.

In last week’s VS poll, we asked: Heavy Metal vs Reggae, which music genre do you like more? The voting this week was very close indeed, for the entire week. To see who won, click here: Classic Rock VS Poll, week 502. You can also check out the final results at the VS results page 2, at the Classic Rock site, just click on: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

We close up this poll post as usual with the Beatles poll, where it’s week 256, and week 6 of the Beatles album vs album polls, which is featuring the Abbey Road LP. This week’s question is: Abbey Road vs Revolver , which album do you like the best?

vs

Yet another very much loved Beatles album goes up against AR this week. Will this week’s poll be as close as they were last week? We will soon find out! To cast your vote in this week’s Beatles poll, use this link: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week's Beatles poll we answered this question: Abbey Road vs Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band , which album do you like the best?

vs

Wow, that was close! AR had it first week where it didn’t run away with a win. Instead, a very close week of polling with AR just holding on and taking first place by only a handful of votes. To see the final results from this poll, please go here: Beatles Weekly Poll – week 255. Or, you can check out the results at the The Beatles' Studio Albums page, located at the domain’s Lennon Site.

Well this upcoming week should be a fun one for many people! This Tuesday is the Mardi Gras, so a big party in New Orleans and at other places, too, and a big party in Denver on Tuesday, too, where a parade will be held for the World Champion Broncos! I thank everybody who voted in last week’s polls and hope everybody has a great upcoming week!
