RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: the word..nsc

Both John and Paul can be considered legitimate artistic geniuses for the era and genre of music for which they were a creative force. Furthermore, there was synergy having both of them in the same group, not only working together but in a competitive sense as well. This can be cited as an example of creative tensions working to full advantage, until egos ultimately overtook the group and led to its breakup. The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson notes that he was intensely competitive with The Beatles, but he had no real equal in his band. The Beatles did however with John and Paul, and producer George Martin was able to recognize this as the creative force of nature that it was, enabling the band to grow and progress to levels never seen before in popular music. There was a balance of creativity and musicianship within The Beatles. While they were competent if not excellent musicians, it was their their ideas and pushing the envelope to develop new studio technologies (with limited resources for the time) that set them apart. Paul appears to have been more hands-on with the process, and a master of pop melody, while John was the idea person. The soundscapes of "Tomorrow Never Knows" and "I Am the Walrus" are examples of this. And all credit goes to George Martin and Abbey Road engineers for capturing the flow of ideas onto tape. Not to knock ALO, who was able to realize his vision for the Stones during their formative years, but I doubt if he could have gotten anywhere close to the results with The Beatles that Martin did.
