The weather here is so mild that there is no chance of them hibernating
Squirrels don't hibernate. Too damn bad, if you ask me! If they did, February 2 would be Squirrel Day. Oy!
Two years ago, I had two of them squat my attic. Last year's winter was really bad and I guess that the cold made it difficult for them to find anything to eat, so some of them actually munched on the wood of my back balcony! If you feel like turning the one in your attic into BBQ dinner, you can imagine how I feel about the ones gnawing on the balcony that was redone (at great expense) a little over two years ago!
I bought some critter repellent this year but since the winter is very mild (fingers crossed that it continues), I haven't had to use very much so far.
