I met him once in the late 1960s. I was in a hotel lift with Andrew Loog Oldham & Tony Calder in Amsterdam (checking out) after travelling first to the Bilzen Festival for the very first Humble Pie gig and then Steve was concerned about my travelling alone to Amsterdam to see them at Paradiso, so his roadies drove me and insisted I stayed in their hotel - so I just got transported everywhere - ALO & TC insisted on paying my hotel bill!! Had I realised that the money should've been going to Humble Pie, I'd have paid my own bill.
