More Glimmer Twins polls/Hey Jude album/more....

It’s time for week 850 of the Stones poll to get underway and this week we have what I’ll call a “bonus question”, in regard to the Stones VS questions we’ve been asking for the last several weeks… so the question is: Mick Jagger vs Keith Richards, from 1962 till present, who contributed more to the Stones?

No, I didn’t plan on a 10th week of this VS question, and we already had 4 weeks of matching the 2 Glimmer Twins up against each other as it is. We’ve been placing the 2 up against each other by each decade, and after thinking it over, I think it would make sense to see how overall the 2 will match up looking at all the years together in one question.

So all 53 years that the Stones have been together will be looked at this week, and that is a ton of time! Just which Glimmer contributed more to the Stones in all of those years? To make your pick, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll to vote.

In last week’s Stones poll we asked: Mick Jagger vs Mick Taylor, from 1970 to '73, who contributed more to the Stones? We did pick a clear winner answering this question. To see what the final results were and who was picked, just click here: Stones Weekly Poll - week 849 . I’ll also add the results of this poll to the Stones VS Page 2. Just click on “Band Members” when you get to this page to see the results.

At the Classic Rock Poll it’s week 492, and with one of the biggest holiday weeks of the year upon us (in the US anyway), I’ll only run one question this week and give the Rock VS poll a rest and ask a question that is in line with the big holiday this week…. So our lone Rock pol question this week is: Of the Rockers listed, who would you like to (or would have liked to) invite over for Thanksgiving dinner the most?

You might recall last year at this very time, we asked this question twice in one week, at both the Stones and Beatles poll, and although I had this question ready to also ask at the Rock poll, I never did use it, as I felt asking it twice in one week was enough. But with me still being under the weather in the last week, I needed an already made poll to run this week, and felt it was a good time to now ask it at the Rock poll.

You will notice that although there are 80 different Rockers to choose from, none of the members of Stones or Beatles are among those listed, since we already asked about them last year and I would like to see who else we would like to break bread with over this special holiday.

To see the list and who’s listed, and to pick whom you would like to share some dead bird with, just click here to vote: Classic Rock Poll..

In last week’s first Rock poll we asked: What was the stupidest thing ever done by a Rocker or a rock band? I ran this question last week in part because it was already put together a long time ago and ready to use. As the week went on I realized it really was a great question to ask and lots of you were taking part in answering it. As I and several others here noted, most of the choices could have been picked by any one fan and usually when such good choices are listed, we not only have very close results, but a great turnout in the end. Well my friends, that was clearly the case last week, and holy shit, by sometime late yesterday we had broken the domain record for most votes cast for one single poll in a week, and the votes just kept coming in today, and when the counting of votes was all over, we ended up with 737 total votes cast in this one poll alone! Well, that is big news for this domain, anyway, and makes me feel just a bit better tonight seeing that!

So, what choice was the top pick? Well like I noted, it was close, and only 10 votes separated the top 13 choices, and with only 5 votes separating choices 14 thru 19! In the end, the top pick, by just one vote, was: ”Kanye West takes mic away from Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech at Grammy show and rants that she shouldn’t had won it (in 2009)”. This was one choice I almost didn’t even list in the poll, since it was both something that happened only a few years ago, and more so because it wasn’t really a true classic rock thing at all, but more a general music related deal. But West, regardless if you like him or not, does what he does in a form of music that is totally rock related and a form of music that never would have existed without rock music. That, and he lists several classic rock bands, including the Stones, as big musical influences in his music and lifestyle. So I did list it and it was the top choice in the end.

You can check out the full final results of this poll by clicking on: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 491, or check out the top 10 from this poll at the Top Ten Lists, Page, 11.

In last week’s VS poll, we asked:'Like a Rolling Stone': Bob Dylan's original vs Jimi Hendrix’s cover, which version is better?

After the votes came in, this one wasn’t as close a vote as I thought it might be. Just click here to see the final results: Classic Rock VS Poll, week 491. You can also check out the final results at the VS results page 2, at the Classic Rock site, just click on: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

As usual, we end this poll post with the Beatles’ poll, where it’s week 245, and just like what I’m doing at the Stones poll this week, we will conduct a bonus poll for this poll too, and what will become week 14 of rating the Beatle albums. The question is: On a scale from zero to ten, how do you rate the album Hey Jude (aka The Beatles Again)?

Hey Jude (original title: The Beatles Again) is a 1970 collection of non-album singles and B-sides by the Beatles recorded from 1964 till 1969. The album was released pretty much world-wide, other than in the UK of all places, and as was the case with all Beatle albums, it sold great, with over 2 million copies sold in the US alone in the first 6 months of its release. The album was finally released in the UK in 1979, and then it was discontinued everywhere in 1980 and out of print for years, until it was finally issued on CD for the very first time in 2014.

Again, this compilation LP had some great songs on it, and it should be noted that although it was planned to be released as The Beatles Again, in the last minute the title was changed to Hey Jude, but because of that, some of the earliest copies were already printed and sold with inner labels under the title The Beatles Again.

You can view all the songs that appear on the album before you vote here..

Okay, to vote and rate Hey Jude , please use this link: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week's Beatles poll we answered this question: On a scale from zero to ten, how do you rate the album Let it Be ?

I’m not sure if we ever did ask for the Beatles most underrated album in our polls before (I’ll need to check) but I’ll bet that Let it Be would be that LP. It really was a great album and last week’s polling on this question shows that fans just love the crap out of it, as “10” was the top pick, taking in 27.9% of the votes.

You can check out the full final results from the poll here: Beatles Weekly Poll – week 244. Or, you can check out all of the Beatle album top ratings at the Beatles Album Page, located at the domain’s Lennon Site.

Okay, so ends another poll post. With the US Thanksgiving this week, things should slow down just a bit here at the domain, but I noticed in the last few years not anywhere as much as it used to. I just hope that I’m feeling a lot better in the next few days so I can enjoy the holiday, as I’m still ill tonight, but still a lot better than last week. But I know that a lot of you Gassers will have off from work for the entire week, so enjoy yourselves, and thanks for voting in our polls!
