I know what you mean, Jaded Faded. I love to take a bath because there's so marvelous about being totally immersed in water - sometimes I find a whole poem arrived while soaking away enjoying nothing more than staring at the lovely wavy design of the wall tiles!!! I've been having the downstairs of my California coastal home remodelled - most of the ideas for that came from while I was in the bath in the UK. Suddenly out of nowhere as a result of shopping for a picture for the wall in the local art gallery, and arranging to have a cup of tea with a local artist, I ended up with her architect husband visiting to take a look at my ideas - 45 minutes later, and for US$80 he'd drawn up something on a piece of paper to scale that my contractor was thrilled with. If I'd not wanted a picture on the wall of the upstairs bathroom, and if I'd listened to myself saying "but I don't want to spend much on a picture for the bathroom", I wouldn't have got an amazing deal on the plans for the new downstairs bathroom and half bathroom (as you say in the USA). I often get ideas for interior design for my homes when in the bath - doesn't seem to work in the shower. I think everyone needs to take time out to move outside the box - the more one looks into something the more one sees in detail, but there's also the need to gain perspective by moving away and seeing the big picture. I love getting caught up in all those things - and I like making it happen too. I've done some really fun things to my homes - don't get anyone in to do anything like faux marbling on the staircase or fireplace or faux granite on part of a wall. I like modern homes, and there's so much scope to turn them into quite fun places without doing anything too outrageous or too formal. \I need to take more baths and spend two or three hours in them.
