If jagger and richards had not started writing such great songs the stones quite likely would have broken up in 1964 or 1965.

Chicken or the egg: If Brian doesn't start the band and keep it going when everyone else was ready to give up, none of those songs get written.

Keep in mind also that some of those Jagger-Richards songs were not truly Jagger-Richards songs.
