The beatles would not have been quite as good without george martin or perhaps never even heard of without brian epstein but these guys were not as crucial as lennon or mccartney were.Its the same with the stones.Hats off to jones,oldham,wood,wyman etc,but jagger and richards were the main men at all times.Lennon and mccartney needed epstein to get their foot in the door,but he was not needed for very long.Sadly it was the same for jones and the stones.He kicked the doors in for them,but he really wasnt needed for very long.Sure his seemingly dynamic mastery of any instrument helped enhance many a jagger richards composition,but aside from that and starting up the band what else did he do?
