Brian in the Stones poll. For pretty much the same reason I picked him against Keith in last week's poll. Without Brian to start the band and keep it going when everyone else was ready to give up, we wouldn't have had any of that great Stones music. In those early days, Brian was also a driving musical force, as well as the main focal point of the band image-wise.
No Jones, no Stones. It's as simple as that, and no amount of latter-day revisionism is going to change that.
Still no vote in the first rock poll. I can't isolate anyone's body of work on acoustic guitar enough to cast an enlightened vote. I could vote for my favourite guitarist from the list, but that's not the point and it would defeat the purpose of the poll.
5 Man Electrical Band version in the second rock poll. I've always loved that song. I'd never heard the cover so I went to You Tube for it. Not bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original IMO.
Abbey Road gets a 9.
