I see where YOu are coming from, Pluto. I agree with everything you posted. I guess it's just a matter of interpretation of the word "contribution". I took it to mean the actual WORK that went into the songs and the creation of the Rolling Stones sound, etc.
Image wise, I would say Mick and Brian were the ones "out there" and the 2 that most fans (the casual fans too)recognized and attributed their success to, but I dont think Keith was sitting on his ass either. He and Mick wrote the songs. Even he and Brian collaborated, as we know.
If we are voting on who was the fan favorite or who was most recognizable between Keith and Mick in the '60's, I would say Mick by a landslide. If you are talking about actual band input, etc, I would stick to my choice that they were even in the '60's.
