RE: My picks

Stones poll: Gotta go with MJ, the second half of the '70s saw perhaps the least output from Keith than any other period in the band's history. But his problems with missing sessions started out as early as in '73 with GHS. Truth is, even with with EOMS his H problem started to show. Keith caused BW to miss out on a few songs... the LP was recorded at Keith's house - but Keith wouldn't even show up in the basement where it was recorded, to play, when he should have been there. So after sitting around for hours waiting on him to show, Bill would go home at 3am and Keith would finally show up at 4 and play the bass parts that Bill was really to play hours earlier. The thing was, MJ wasn't a round a lot too, he had just gotten married and he would show up whenever to add in his vocals, and as I always stated, I felt (and he has too), that his vocals on the album were lacking. So the LP was more Keith than MJ - or anybody else, other than the horns were big in there, too. But in an unusual twist, it was because of Keith's H problem that he ended up playing on the double LP more than some of the other members, as his problem got in their way more than his.

Rock poll: No question "Aqualung" is their best overall song, but the question doesn't ask for that, it asked for your favorite, and although I love the song, I find a few other songs on the album of the same name better. I love all of the anti-religious songs on that LP - especially "Hymn 43" and "Wind-up", I could have written them myself, my very words and feelings towards the church and religious leaders are written in those 2 songs (Jesus does need saving himself from religious leaders, and yes, those leaders and Sunday school teachers did get "the who damn thing all wrong").. Great lyrics (a "10), but the delivery wasn't as great, but still very good. So I haven't voted yet in this poll, but will soon, since I'm hung up on their simple love song "Inside", one of the few love songs they ever did, and I love the instrumental Bourée too, and songs like "Bungle In The Jungle, Teacher, and Thick as a Brick" could all still get my vote.

VS poll: Savoy Brown's version. I was half thinking on Saturday if I should I put the Savoy Brown cover up against a so well known and loved Temptations song, but the songs isn't really a Temptations song, they didn't write it, and as great as their cover is, Savoy Brown's version is better IMO, and much different. So I knew before hand that the Temptations should win this one, but I just hope a landslide doesn't take place since Savoy Brown's cover doesn't deserve that... it deserves to be heard by more id anything, and that's a reason to use this match-up in the poll. Some might get to know it this way. Plus it is getting a bunch of votes as it is, but with the Temptations's cover at 60% right now, that's where we start to use the word "landslide" in our polls.

Fab poll: I give the album a "9". My biggest problem with this one was I was least happy with Lennon's songs on here, and this is the only album where I can say that. Yet other Lennon fans loved the songs he wrote on this one, and to each his own, but I not only liked Paul's songs better on here, I even like what George wrote a bit more too. But still overall, a great album!
