What are we to make of this annual gathering in the Redwoods of California by more than 2000 of the wealthy elite and politicians? It has been taking place since 1873. Members of the past have included the Bushs, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, oil barons, and many, many more of the famous, wealthy and influential.
The super wealthy and powerful gathering together for 2 and a half weeks of drunken fun in a camping atmosphere? A gathering to make decisions on a scale so large it effects us all? A gathering to make connections to make plans later?
Harmless drunken fun by elitists in the woods? Or decisions being made which counters a democracy? Maybe both. Perhaps nothing to worry about. Perhaps a great deal to worry about. I'm undecided at this point.
A new friend made me aware of Bohemian Grove just this weekend. There is plenty of documentation of the annual July event by the National media of the past. I researched Bohemian Grove at youtube. Plenty of solid documentation! You may want to do the same. Many of you will be surprised.
It smells kind of bad to me. All members are sworn to secrecy of what takes place there. The media is not allowed anywhere near the 2700 acres where it all takes place. Rituals and speeches take place. For most of it's history women were not allowed in even as employees to serve the mainly over 50 year old or older male members. Most members are Conservatives. Dick Chaney is a member for instance.
What are your thoughts? Are the protesters who gather outside each year just paranoid?
