Strangely enough, "Within You Without You" has always been one of my favorite songs on the album. Aside from it being so radically different from everything else on the album, I really like the message behind the lyrics. I always interpreted George singing the song in a more meditative chant sort of way.
I was actually VERY surprised to read that comment when I first read the review, but I guess I can see how his voice can be a little monotone. I think it works for the tune. It's a calm zen kind of piece, and of course you end up comparing it to masterful vocals on SGT PEPPER, LUCY, etc. Hard to compete with that.
