RE: RE: RE: Record stores are an endangered

When I was in my mid teens, me and my friend Dominick would get on the train to Manhattan sometimes to just check out some of the great record stores there. Dom knew where the best records stores were, and I'm not talking about chain stores, these were independent shops.I recall one place in lower Manhattan we would go to that only sold singles, and I just loved that joint, it was small and very cool indeed. You would find many old singles from the 1950s in there, and the owner was always there, working behind the counter. If you asked him if he had a certain single, he would know off hand without looking anything up on a computer (since no stores had computers in those days) and if he had it, he knew exactly where in the store it was, and would bring you to it. I'm sure that old guy is long dead now. But I always enjoyed our trips into the city just to go to those stores. I got to wonder if any of them - maybe just one, might still be around today.
