Creative "Genius" vs. Creative Innovation

I would agree with Lennon's statement that Brian was not a creative genius, as that title gets bandied about a lot but they are actually few and far between. Innovative musicians leave their mark as much as the occasional genius does however, sometimes more so. Brian's innovation provided the band with a distinctive sound at a point when they needed to break out from being viewed as merely a competent R&B based outfit. He has been dead and gone for 46 years but the legacy is till there, not only in the hand's name but in the fact that they even exist to begin with.
