First, I hope you are not catagorizing me as a Keith "defender" because I am certainly not.
I didn’t name any single person as a Keith defender, I was talking in general about a few people, but no, I don’t look at you as one.
If he thinks Sgt Pepper is crap then so be it!
He can think anything he wants, but when he states in public and puts down an album beloved by so many, those of us who love/like that album have just as much a right to say so.
He even went so far as to bash his own Stones album (TSMR) as crap.
Well no question about that, and he’s again putting down his band in doing that. Sure he has a right to do that, it’s his band and an album he worked on, but how often do the other Stones put down any of their albums, or each other? I’ll say it again, Keith is the biggest Stones basher out there! He should say something about the one and only album most fans don’t like, DW, and that album’s songs were mainly his and the LP was his baby more so than any other Stones album, yet he has never put that LP down.
It doesn't sound like he's upset at or bashing Bill about Bill's comment. I don't think he gives a shit about the plaque OR what Bill said
I disagree, he gives a shit or he would not have said what he did. But yes, bashing is a bad word to use for what he said, yet it’s clear he wasn’t happy with what Bill said and he did put the dude down, there is no question about it. He pretty much made the guy out to be a hypocrite, when there was zero ground for that…. he is assuming how Bill would react if the same thing happened to him. It didn’t, and he’s claiming that Bill would not want the plaque changed if the shoe was on the other foot. That is ridiculous to even state, just because he’s fine with falsehoods being told, that doesn’t mean Bill or others would be! Bill knows his Stones history, that’s clear, and my guess is if this happened to Bill, he would have demanded that the info be changed. Unlike Keith, Bill has integrity.
The people who piece these articles/interviews together use whatever they want!
You are talking to a person who’s been in the newspaper business for over 20 years. I know exactly how editors work, and the writers are the victims of this sometimes more often as the people they write about or interview. There is nothing more a writer hates than when the editor totally changes what the writer wrote, sometimes it totally makes the writer look bad.
Do you think the WHOLE interview was those few questions?
Why are you addressing this to me, a long time newspaper reporter and sometimes a magazine reporter? I’ve conducted countless interviews throughout the years, sometimes half the questions you ask, you never use. But everything in that paragraph you wrote had nothing to do with what I commented to you about, so I guess I’m not sure why that was addressed to me.
As far as Stu goes...I never said he was a "leader". Don't know where that came from. I said he played a major role
Where did it come from?.... it came from Keith, he claimed Stu was the one who formed the Stones, that would mean he was the leader… and that is the main thing we are talking about in this thread. You then wrote that “We all know that Stu DID have a major role (maybe not as much as Brian) in the newly formed Stones and I disagreed with that. He didn’t have a major role in the band, he was the piano player and van driver, that was it. You stated that his role wasn’t as major as Brian's, but in your reply you say you were only talking about playing an instrument, cool, and yes, he was just as much Brian’s equal if that was all you meant. But you didn’t state it in that way. But at least you cleared up what you meant, so thanks for the clarification.
