Now I agree with you, it's a pretty classless thing for Keith to say. But what does any of this have to do with Brian? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Brian and Keith has said some pretty nasty things about him over the years, but I thought he was talking shit about The Beatles?

Also... "He really played little part in the progressive records the Stones did in 1966-67." Uh... didn't he write the songs with Mick? I'd say that plays a big part in the process. Of course, not to take away from what Brian, Bill and Charlie did, but without a good song, you've got nowhere to go.

I think the simpler reason they didn't perform many of those songs when they went on the road was because they wanted to focus on promoting their new material, LET IT BLEED and BEGGAR'S BANQUET. They obviously found a new groove and wanted to stick to that sound. And much like the songs on SGT PEPPER, their psychedelic songs were specifically written not to be performed live. You think The Beatles would have been able to perform "Tomorrow Never Knows" or "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" live? Paul McCartney has said on many occasions that those songs were specifically written to be studio productions. Same with The Stones stuff.

On The Rock and Roll Circus, Brian's last performance with them, he sticks to playing guitar and percussion. I think even if Brian had stuck with them, they would have still focused on the newer material.

Getting back to Keith... I don't know why he says all this crap, maybe he's just trying to get some attention, but I still wouldn't discredit the guy. As far as I'm concerned, Keith Richards is the heart and soul of The Stones, always has been. If he wants to rant about stuff, well, I'm gonna allow it.
