RE:My Picks

Gosh, we finally have a nice poll thread happening so far. Plus I guess Manny's problems were just on his end??

My poll pick choices are:

Stones Poll: Aftermath by a landslide, for me anyway! SW just happens to be for me, my second least liked Stones album. After DW was released in '86, and then this came out in '89, I remember thinking, well, half thinking, that the Stones were out of gas, as far as making new music went. Glad that didn't turn out to be the case!

Rock Poll: Brad Whitford. I realized this after they released the album Rocks in the mid '70s and it opened with 2 great songs, "Back in the Saddle", and "Last Child", which were also both hit singles, and they featured Whitford, not Perry, on lead guitar. The dude should have been given more lead parts for sure to play!

VS Poll: Ringo's cover! He had several hit singles after he left the Beatles, and this one was a good one, but not the best one either ("Photograph" and "Only You" were better, IMO), but still, it beats Johnny Burnette's version.

Fab Poll: Gotta go with "Helter Skelter' on this one, it truly is the best false ending - perhaps to any rock song... maybe not as classic an ending as the one on "A Day in the Life", but we aren't looking for the most classic ending to a Beatles song here (but heck, that could be another poll question some day?), we want the best false ending, period, and that means after it sounds like a song is over, but isn't. Second place I would pick "Piggies" which also has a excellent false ending to it, then ADITL would follow that song (for me, of course). One last mention would be the Anthology 2 release of "Lady Madonna", with the solo sax ending, that you don't hear at the end of the original version - and which I feel should had been included, since it is excellent indeed.
