Again the sad thing about writing off this book is there are some very good interviews not found elsewhere. Brian's parents for one are given a very sharp view by Pat Andrews. Her relationship with Brian is done very well here, she does a terrific interview on his early years.
Two stories she tells in the book.
They did things to Brian like go on Christmas holiday without him. He came to his house one evening to find it locked. They had thrown a couple of his things in the bushes, all without letting him know in advance he wouldn't have a home over the for the next few weeks. Brian broke in to get a few things and his neighbors called the cops as they had been told nobody would be there.
Brian was able to explain the situation to an understanding cop, but the humiliation of it really hurt. They didn't leave him a penny to stay anywhere or arrange for him to stay with anyone. The simply did not love him.
When Brian told his mother Pat was pregnant she broke his guitar smashed up the house screamed at him like a madwoman than as his father came home lied and said Brian was beating her. Pat vowed they would never see their grandchild and they didn't.
As far as Brian being an asshole, he really doesn't seem to have been under the circumstances. He was simply reacting to being bullied by Mick and Keith, cuckold by Anita, and hunted by the London Police. Drugs and Drink further unhinged him, but for all that his basic character seems to have been fairly kind considering his emotional issued. I would rather know him that Mick, Keith, Ron, or Andrew any day.
I'll say it again robbing Brian of his legacy, and lying boldface about the guy to make themselves look more important make Andrew, Mick, Keith, Ian, and even Charlie guilty of things far crueler than Jones EVER did. I mean we have visual, audio, and documented proof that they lie about Brian Jones and speak of him more cruely than Brian is documented speaking of anybody.
