I read the first edition of this book and it was full of holes. I also dug deep into this when I was writing my own book, and I included 2 chapters on BJ's death (even if my book isn't about this). But the more you dig, the more holes you find in Rawlings' book (the first edition), or in other books on this subject, and in almost all of the stories of just about everybody who was or claims to have been there that night - other then one person, - Janet.
I would not even bother to read anything new that is said in this book and just by reading what you are covering, I know I don't wish to go near it with a 10 foot pole! The biggest problem with these books are they are making it impossible to ever find the real truth on how BJ was murdered - and that's is the only real truth, HE WAS murdered! These made up stories only make some people with clear minds think there was no way he was murdered, since the holes are just do big in most of them
The Glimmer Twins WERE NOT there on July 2, '69, and had nothing to do with BJ's murder! Brian was totally happy with the settlement he and them made just 3 weeks earlier, he was still friends with both of them, and he was planning to be at the Hyde Park concert and spoke to the Stones management around July 1 about this, the Stones were fine with Brian being at the show.
There also was no party going on at his house that night - nothing at all, before Brian was killed, that crap is all totally made up! Now it's been awhile and I've read many books on this, and I think it was in Terry Rawlings' book where he claims he spoke to BJ's maid, who lived in the house next store to Brian, a woman whom Brian was very close to. He claims in his book that he was told by her that yes, there was a major party going on at the house, a very loud party, in the hours before BJ was killed. This story is a total falsehood and the maid was very upset that she was quoted in the book about a statement she never made to anybody, and which never happened. The maid (who's name I can't recall right now) wasn't even home on that day. She was spending the night at her sister's home many miles away and the only person home that night at her house was her adult daughter. The daughter has flat out said there was no party going on at all at Brian's house, and that it was a very quite night and she was in fact outside enjoying the night sky and all the quietness, when all of a sudden, there were police cars everywhere, around 1am or so in the morning. Before that, nothing, no cars or party at all! She noted that for any cars going and coming to Brian;s house had to pass directly in front on her house, and none at all did, not until after 1am when the police showed up
The only people there at the house that night were Brian, Anna, Janet, and the killer, Frank. Frank was living with Janet in the guest house (other than on weekends when he went back to his wife) while working on Brian's main home, and was taking advantage of him for months. About 2 weeks before Brian died, a large beam in the kitchen fell and just missed hitting Anna, thanks to Brian pushing her out of harm's way. After Brian found out about a week later that the beam fell thanks to Frank's poor work, he fired him and gave him a week to move out. Frank was suppose to move on July 3, the next day, for good, and go back to his wife, but Brian, being a good guy didn't want him to leave mad at him, so he invited Frank and Janet into the house for a few drinks that evening, this according to both Janet and Anna. BTW, Frank was no longer cooking for BJ at this point (and he didn't cook for them that night), something he did a few days a week, and while BJ and Anna where watching the American TV show Laugh-In that night, just before Frank and Janet came by, Anna took some kind of drug on her own (although the exact time she took the drugs isn't known for sure, acid perhaps) but for the most part, she could not remember everything that took place after the TV show ended.
It is true that - they all ended up outside sometime after 11 pm by the pool to go for a swim, at Brian's suggestion. But only Brian and Frank ever got into the pool for a swim. Janet then went back into the house and answered the phone, a call which was for Anna, and she then called Janet in, who left the pool, leaving BJ alone with Frank. Brian had stayed away from Frank after he asked him to move out and this was the first time the 2 got to talk alone.
It should be noted here, since it was even stated in this thread that everybody there that night has changed their story more than once on what happened that night, that Janet never did this, she only had one story to tell, that was it. She, along with Anna, were threaten by Frank that night after Brian was dead, and before the cops were called, and both Anna and Janet disappeared for years, and neither one of them were heard from again until Frank died in the early '90s. Around that time Anna wrote her book and told her side of the story, that Frank killed Brian, but the story she gave, that she pulled BJ from the water, was false, since that's the story Frank told her. Anna was flat out too stoned to really remember what happened that night, other than she felt Brian was murdered by Frank.
Janet's story is the only one that I believe and seemed to be true and could have happened. She never said a word to anybody - even after Frank died, and didn't tell her story until she was in fact dying of cancer herself, which just happened to be right around the time I was putting my book together. she didn't wish to go to her grave without telling what she knew - and again, her story was never changed, it was only told once, a story which I wrote about in detail in my book. But in a nutshell, she told how Frank was left in the pool with Brian, and how after awhile, Frank came into the house shaking, and soaking wet, asking for a cigarette. Janet gave him a cig, then went out to the pool to check on Brian, and found him on the bottom of the pool. She didn't know how to swim and started to run back to this house, screaming to both Frank and Anna that Brian needed help, but she never said where BJ was and what was wrong. Yet Frank, ran out the door, not being told Brain was still in the pool - and made a bee line to the pool and drove right in without looking in the pool to see if he was in there, and he pulled BJ out of the water. As Janet said, she never told him Brian was in the bottom of the pool and she even questioned while she told the story that "how did Frank know that Brain was at the bottom of the pool?" Frank made up the story that Anna pulled Brain out of the water and they were told to tell the police this, and Anna was so stoned that she really thinks she did this..... But Janet knew Brian was killed by Frank and flat out said it, but not until years later, until she knew that she was dying herself.
There were of course a few other things I didn't cover in this post, like the UK police totally blowing the case and not securing the area around the pool once they got there, or the bruises found on both Frank's body by police, and on Brian's body, including how the autopsy (which I read) showed that Brian's brain was shaken in the very same way they find in dead babies today who are killed by being shaken. The problem was back in '69, this shaken brain thing (I can't recall right now the medical name used to describe the condition the brain is in from being shaken, but you can look it up online, and this condition is noted of Brian's brain in BJ's autopsy) wasn't known back then what caused it and so the condition was dismissed - only for that reason, a lack of knowledge on what caused his brain to be in that shape when he died.
Frank killed Brain that night and got away with it, sad but true.
