I can totally dig what you're saying mike, I feel the very same way after what I went though with my book. Shit, I got several good books inside me that I'll never write since I never want to go though that shit again! Thing was, I never wanted to write a book about the Stones, I had other ideas in mind that I wanted to write about. But then I became close friends with Philip Kamin, the well known rock photographer and book publisher, and he talked me into writing a book about the Stones to go with a bunch of never seen/published photos that he took of them, or other ones that he owned. Since this guy, up until when he retired, had taken photos of just about every known rock band, and had published over 100 books, many that had nothing to do with music, I saw this as a stepping stone to write those books that I actually wanted to write about. I might know a lot more than the average Stones fan knows, and have a ton of inside contacts to the band, but I already wrote about them here at Gasland and never wanted to write a book on them. But I got talked into it, and everything was suppose to be taken care of by Phil, until he had problems come up and right at the wrong time, and the book's release got delayed and then his publishing business closed without warning. So at that point I had to form my own publishing company with the help of a Gasser or two just to get the book, which was half edited and a layout already done, put out there. I flat out hated the book's unusual layout, but at that point I was stuck with it. Then there was no money left over to promote it once it came out, even with the great reviews it got from fans. That sure wasn't my backers fault, and I never said it was, but when I noted this here that the book had zero promo, they took what I noted wrong and got mad at me for blaming them for that, when I never did any of that. So it got at least one close Gasser friend mad at me over something I never said (but was just taken wrong), and the entire thing left a bad taste in my mouth. I tell ya, writing for newspapers is so much easier to do than writing a book! Well actually, writing a book came easy to me, but publishing a book is an entire different story, whereas writing for newspapers you don't deal with any of that crap.
