It was also believed to cause major environmental problems and it was noted that it could lead to cancer in those who flew on it regularly (skin cancer) and that was why beforehand the US never built their own version of the plane. If you were around when they first were trying to decide if they should build it or not, it was decided by those in the US that the health of the the planet and people was more important than building and flying this SST (which is what the US was calling it). It seemed the British and French didn't worry about that, but they were worried that it was banned from being flown over NY state or allowed to land in any of the NYC airports (until the US Supreme Court over ruled the ban a few years after it began flying), but that was another reason why it never made money, most in the US refused to fly on it, and it was still banned from flying across the US. I believe they made one exception and allowed it to fly from NY to LA for what ever reason, only one time, and they had to take a different route on their NY to Mexico flights once they were allowed to land in NYC, but the plane flew almost empty on that route every time, since people in NA refused to fly on it, and that leg was dropped after a very short time. So it had a lot going against it and that's why it never made any money.
