To celebrate the song "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" 50th Anniversary, a limited edition, numbered 12-inch single, which is cut from the original mono master tapes on 180g vinyl, and features both US and UK B-sides housed in a sleeve recreating the original artwork. The 12-inch makes this a true audiophile pressing, allowing for wider grooves that yield louder levels, broader dynamic range, deeper bass, and better high frequency response. Price: $14.82.
My friend who first emailed me on this, and whom supplied them with the original cover of the single back in 1988, when the band needed one and didn't have a copy (for the release of the London Years), points out that the song was released in, and recorded in, stereo, not mono, so why not release it in the stereo format? He also points out the single in 1965 only cost 39 cents. Also, there are multiple versions recorded of the song, so why not, for the price they are charging, give the true fans for years of support, an alternate take or 2 as a bonus... since it's hard nosed fans like us who would be mostly interested in this release?
I agree with my friend, and although I understand some fans prefer mono released over stereo, I'll never understand that, stereo sounds light years better to my ears, so I myself have no interest in a mono release, and would not waste $14 on this. But then again, if you're not a true fan, and just a collector, you would buy it so that you could charge more one day in the future to a hard nosed fan who didn't get it today at the the "bargain" price it's being offered for. Sorry, but IMO, such fans are suckers, you'd be buying something that was still released in 2015, not in 1965, therefore I would have no interest in such a copy. Still, you gotta wonder just how much the price will go up in say, 10 years from now for this?
