Stones back side/touring songs/Tremolo guitar/more

vs.

Tonight (or this morning) we enter week 831 of our Stones poll we will ask this question: Tiebreaker poll: Hot Rocks vs Let It Bleed, which album had the best back cover?

Too often when we have a tie for first place in any of our polls, and then I run the tiebreaker poll for it, I wait way too long before I hold the tiebreaker (like for tonight’s second rock poll question), in part because I forget about it. So it’s best for me to try to rerun the poll question as soon as possible, and that’s what I’m doing this week in the Stones poll, as this question was first asked just 2 weeks ago, when these 2 album’s back covers tied for first place in the Stones best back cover poll.

The Hot Rocks back cover shows the band in the late ‘60s in a photo taken outside at a very old - and back then, abandoned castle/building, with the band hanging from the building’s façade, other than Charlie who is standing out front in the yard.

To get the Let it Bleed back album cover, you got to first appreciate the very nice looking, fancy cake, set on top of an old turntable with figurines of the band on the top of the cake, which is on the album’s front cover, along with other things there, like a pizza, and a tape of the album in its case, along with the record itself on the turntable. Then on the backside, the cake has been cut into and everything is broken up.

So which back side of the 2 do you like better? To make your pick and vote, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Stones poll we asked this question: 'Memo from Turner' (Stones) vs 'Memo from Turner' (Jagger solo), which version of this song is better? Well, this one turned out a lot closer in the voting than I was thinking it would. To see the final results and which version was picked, just click on this link: Stones Weekly Poll - week 830 . You can also check out the finial results at the Stones VS List Page , under “Battle of the Stones Songs”, just click on ‘Songs” at the top of the page when you get there.

At the Classic Rock Poll its week 473, and as usual, we will vote in 2 different polls for the week. In the first poll we will ask a brand new question which is: What is the best rock song about living life on the road while touring in a band? Living life on the road while playing in a rock n roll band takes a certain kind of person to be able to handle and actually like doing it. Some artists love it, others hate it.

There haven’t been a ton of such songs written on this, believe it or not, but as is always the case, there are some such songs that are just flat out excellent, and this week we are in search of the one song that is the best of the bunch.

To make this list, the song has to be about touring while playing rock music only. The poll isn’t about drifters or a rolling stone, etc., although the person(s) the song is about can be one, as long as the song’s lyrics say that the traveler is on the road because of his/her work.

There are 28 songs listed to choose from when you vote. To vote in this week’s first rock poll, just click on: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

In this week’s VS poll, we ask this: Tiebreaker poll: 'Down By the Seaside' - Led Zeppelin - Tremolo Guitar - Jimmy Page vs 'Mona' - The Rolling Stones - Tremolo Guitar by Brian Jones, which song has the better Tremolo Guitar playing in it?

This poll was first run during the week of Oct 22, 2012 from a list of 35 songs, and these 2 songs tied for first place in the voting at that time.

'Mona' was a cover song by the Stones of a Bo Diddley song, who wrote the number about an exotic dancer who he knew. The Stones covered it on their debut album in 1964 and Diddley was blown away by how Brian Jones played the guitar part on the song.

'Down By the Seaside' by Led Zeppelin, was written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, and it showed up on their 1975 album Physical Graffiti. According to the band, the song was influenced by Neil Young and at first was a simple acoustic piece, but it turned more into a electric arrangement, with Page playing the Tremolo Guitar, which fit in great with John Paul Jones’ electric piano.

So which song out of the 2 will you vote for? To cast your vote in this week’s VS poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll we asked: Which group/duo was the best thanks to the husband and wife team in the band? The top 6 picks took in about 60% of all the votes in a somewhat close contest. In the end, The Ike & Tina Turner Revue with Ike and Tina Turner were chosen by one vote over Fleetwood Mac with John and Christie McVie.

To see the full, final results from this poll, click on: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 472. Or you can check out the Top 10 list from this poll at Top Ten Lists, Page, 11..

In last week’s VS poll, we asked: Tiebreaker poll: ‘Tiptoe Through The Tulips’ (Tiny Tim) vs ‘Yummy Yummy Yummy’ (The Ohio Express), which song is the corniest?

Well we now have a corniest song to list at our Top 10 list page, and as is usually the case, and you read this before by me here, I picked the second place finisher in this poll. But I guess this time I actually did pick the winner, since first place with this question means your song wasn’t too keen if it’s looked at as the corniest. To see if you picked the choice that most of the other voters picked, just go here: Classic Rock VS Poll, week 472. You can also check out the final results at the VS results page 2, at the Classic Rock site, just click on: VS Page 2, List Page 10and also at the Top Ten Lists, Page, 6, where the poll was first listed at.

We rap this up, as usual, at the Beatles’ poll where it’s week 226, and we ask this guitar question: From the 3 top songs voted on for best acoustic guitar by each Beatle, which one was the Beatles best acoustic guitar part played? Time to put the top 3 best acoustic guitar Beatle songs voted on by the fans up against each other, and that is, not really the best songs, but the top 3 songs that feature the best playing of an acoustic guitar. Those 3 top picks were: “Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)” with John Lennon on acoustic guitar, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” with George Harrison on acoustic guitar, and “Blackbird” with Paul McCartney playing acoustic guitar.

To vote this week’s Beatles poll and make your pick, please use this link: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Beatle poll we asked: What was George’s most significant acoustic guitar part while playing in the Beatles? Well I already gave you the winning result to this above, but damn did it win in a landslide vote, taking in just under 70% of the votes. To see the full, final results, just click here: Beatle’s Weekly Poll – week 225. Or, you can check out the top pick at the Beatles miscellaneous page located at the domain’s Lennon Site.

Do remember, I have a new Top 10 page set up for the domain’s On-Going polls here: http://www.keno.org/classic_rock/top_ten_lists_12.htm so do check it out if you haven’t yet!

As always, thanks to all of you who vote each week in all of our weekly polls!
