You know I can't remember exactly where this research is being carried out, but it is in the U.S., one of the Universities in California I'm sure. I don't remember the article mentioning who was funding the research, and as far as I recall the research testing has not extended to humans as yet. I may have read this on line, or it could have been in New Scientist or Scientific American, which I sometimes get the chance to browse.
I have had the chance to try out a few of the newer vaporisers, and they are quite sophisticated, with remote control to adjust temperature. Given that the different (potent)constituent parts of the plant vaporise at different temperatures, in theory you can start your evening stuck to the ceiling, and gradually work your way down until you end the night glued to the floor, all it takes is a flick or two of the remote. Have to say that it's never quite worked out that way for me though.
I agree that ingesting the stuff gives you much less control over the effect, but in view of the actual subject of this thread, it can be a convenient way to circumvent any lighting up problems. For gigs when ingesting, the way to go is oil in capsule, for me anyway. With not too much effort you can extract the stuff cold filtered in the comfort of your own home, or so I'm told.
