Indeed, and if subsequent songwriting credits were used as the basis for claiming who actually formed the group, then a big correction was indeed in order. As far as songwriting goes, perhaps ALO should get a plaque posted in an appropriate location, for having motivated the GT's (and the band as a whole aka Nanker Phelge) into writing original songs. There should also be a footnote explaining that ALO decided who received formal credits, despite abundant evidence to suggest that Brian and Bill were collaborative writing partners as well, and indeed they initiated many of the band's biggest hits (Ruby Tuesday and JJF come to mind).
